My sister was born in San Pedro Sula, Honduras, and raised in New Orleans. Lizzie has a B.A. in Photojournalism from Loyola University New Orleans. She is also an alumnus of the New Orleans Film Festival's Emerging Voices workshop where she developed her upcoming series Token Empire.  Lizzie believes that every human being has an artistic and creative voice that should be nurtured and she is committed to helping her fellow students find empowerment through writing.

One voice I cannot forget to amplify is my sister Lizzie. She's never been afraid to be outspoken, even when it's unpopular or controversial, and I credit her for encouraging me to use my platform as an artisanal baker to also speak out about justice. Lizzie serves as the copy editor of the Artisan Bryan bakery blog winner of the 2019 Saveur Blog award. She is currently developing exclusive video content for ArtisanBryan.com.

I was immediately drawn to cooking and baking, and like many people, I believed my mother's cooking was the best. I still do.  I decided to become an accountant and follow in my mother's footsteps.

I worked in the restaurant industry while attaining my accounting degree. I hustled freshly baked King Cakes during Mardi Gras. I helped friends cater events and teach basic cooking techniques to other students.  In the end, though, I graduated and had to start my career. I even became a licensed CPA. I knew, however, that this was not my calling. After 6 years as a tax accounting professional, it was time to go back to my roots.

I can't talk about myself without talking about where my blood comes from. I am forever thankful to my parents for making the journey from Honduras to the US. They fed me, educated me, and kept me healthy and happy.

I was born in the Bronx, which is where my parents emigrated to. Like many Hondurans, though, we ended up in New Orleans. We were very fortunate to grow up eating the best of New Orleans and Honduran cuisine. So many similarities, yet so many differences. So many ingredients and cooking methods to draw from.
